Yankees get encouraging Jazz Chisholm update after injury scare
Jazz Chisholm Jr. was out of the Yankees’ lineup for Game 162, but his playoff status did not sound at risk.
A day after the second baseman took a 97 mph sinker off the left forearm, forcing him to exit Saturday’s win over the Orioles in the fifth inning, Chisholm said he was still experiencing some swelling and soreness.

“I should be good,” Chisholm said before Sunday’s game. “I might get in there today.”
Chisholm underwent X-rays and a CT scan on Saturday, all of which came back negative.

“I think he’s pretty good,” manager Aaron Boone said. “He should be available today in some way. A little sore, but nothing too serious I don’t think.”
José Caballero started at second base for Chisholm in a game the Yankees had to win, along with hoping for a Blue Jays loss to the Rays, in order to claim the division and get a bye into the ALDS.
If they do not, Game 1 of the wild-card series would be Tuesday in The Bronx, and it appears that Chisholm would be back in the lineup for that.
Chisholm entered Sunday batting .243 with a .814 OPS, 31 home runs and 31 steals.
