Yankees’ fourth-inning hit parade chases Red Sox’s Connelly Early

Connelly Early cruised through his first three postseason innings. Dazzled, even, with five strikeouts and no walks. A battle of two rookies had turned into an unexpected pitchers’ duel.

But the Yankees erupted for four runs in the fourth inning against the Red Sox rookie, knocking him out after recording just one out in the frame.

Amed Rosario drove in Cody Bellinger — who doubled on a shallow ball that bounced off Ceddanne Rafaela’s glove — on an RBI single for the first run, before Anthony Volpe followed by poking an RBI single just past second baseman Romy Gonzalez.

Then, Austin Wells nearly reached on catcher’s interference, but after the call was overturned, he knocked a grounder off first baseman Nathaniel Lowe’s glove that allowed two more runs to score.

So Cam Schlittler, finally, had some run support, as the flamethrower also continued to star in his playoff debut with five strikeouts and just two hits allowed through four frames.
