Pitching prospect Gage Ziehl, who has pitched in Single-A and Double-A this season, is headed to Chicago.
The right-handed hitting Slater, 32, mashes left-handed pitchers to the tune of an .859 OPS and .522 slugging percentage, bolstering the Yankees’ bench.
Overall this year, he’s slashing .236/.299/.423 with a .721 OPS in 51 games.
He has five home runs and 11 RBIs in limited action.

He could see time in left field, platooning with Jasson Dominguez, a switch-hitter who struggles hitting from the right side.
Ziehl, a fourth-round pick in the 2024 MLB Draft and the team’s former No. 18 prospect per MLB.com, posted a 4.15 ERA across 16 games (15 starts) this season, including a 4.96 ERA in 14 Double-A stars.
