‘WWHL’: Andy Cohen Escalates Beef With Eric Adams After Former NYC Mayor Told Him To Join Alcoholics Anonymous

Andy Cohen is clapping back at former New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who advised him to join Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) in light of his latest political rant.

Watch What Happens Live returned from holiday hiatus with its first episode of 2026 on Monday night (Jan. 5), and Cohen—who slammed Adams’ mayoral run as “chaotic” and “horrible” during CNN’s New Year’s Eve special this year—did not hold back.

“Eric Adams’ first act as a private citizen was to roast me on Twitter,” he said at the end of the episode. “By the way, Eric Adams, where’s the lie? Where’s the lie?!”

While hosting CNN’s New Year’s Eve broadcast with Anderson Cooper last week, Cohen went on a drunken tirade against Adams, whose tenure as mayor of New York City came to an end that same night when his successor, Zohran Mamdani, was sworn in.

After describing Adams’ time in office as “chaotic” and “horrible,” Cohen took a swipe at the politician’s recently dismissed federal corruption charges. “I just want to say, I mean, he’s got his pardons, he’s pardoned,” Cohen said. “Great, you got your pardons, go off in the sunset. We’ll fiddle with what we have, with what you left us with.”

“You pardoned your way through four years, and all the clubs, we’ll see you there,” he continued. “Goodbye, Mayor Adams. You did it, you did it, you did it, didn’t you?”

The next day, Adams took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to slam Cohen’s latest political outburst—which came three years after he lambasted then-Mayor Bill de Blasio on CNN’s NYE broadcast, resulting in the network’s one-year ban on drinking alcohol on the air.

“My response to @Andy: AA,” Adams wrote. “Another sloppy drunken rant. If anyone actually cares about him, they’ll tell him to get help. New Yorkers aren’t laughing with him. They are concerned about him. Public intoxication is a disease. He should seek help. He was safe in Times Square because we did our job. Again.”

Adams added, “Seek help. AAA: Andy’s Alcohol Anonymous.”

Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
