Now, rightfully so, everyone is wondering if the world will see any more of “The Liars” — the group of cousins and friends who make up the primary cast of the series — as well as the rest of the messy but easy-to-love (and easy-to-hate) Sinclair family. Well, you’re in luck, because we have compiled a list of answers to your questions about the second season of the show.
Here’s everything we know about We Were Liars Season 2, including if it’s happening and what it could be about…
Will There Be A Season 2 Of We Were Liars?
At this time, it’s unclear whether or not there will be a Season 2 of Prime Video’s We Were Liars. The show has not been renewed or canceled as of June 20.
Is There A Second Book In The We Were Liars Series?
There is not a sequel to We Were Liars by E. Lockhart, however, the author did pen a prequel about the three Sinclair daughters, Penny, Carrie, and Bess, played by Caitlin FitzGerald, Mamie Gummer, and Candice King, respectively in the TV series. Could we possibly see Prime Video turn the prequel into a series, as well? It looks likely as it’s even hinted at in the final moments of Season 1 when the sisters discuss drama that occurred during their own teenage years at Beechwood. Laying the groundwork for a spinoff? We think yes!
How Does We Were Liars Season 1 End?
In Episode 8, all is finally revealed about Cadence (Lind) and her traumatic event during Summer 16. After remembering in Episode 7 that the entire group of Liars — i.e. Gat (Shubahm Maheshwari), Mirren (Esther McGregor), and Johnny (Joseph Zada) — decided to set fire to their grandfather’s home as an act of rebellion, only for the three of them to get trapped inside the home and perish in the fire.
It’s in the final episode of Season 1 that Cadence finally remembers that her cousins and her friend died. In the same moment, she realizes that she has spent the entirety of Summer 17 imagining her Gat, Mirren, and Johnny, and that she was the lone survivor of the horrific explosion that threw her back into the water and left her with a traumatic brain injury.
Cadency finally comes to terms with the deaths of her three best friends and says goodbye to their ghosts, promising to carry on their legacy and live as much as she can for all of them.
What Could We Were Liars Season 2 Be About?
If Prime Video does choose to give the show a second season, it would make sense to see Cady struggling in Summer 18 and the fallout of the drama that has unfolded over the last two summers. We should also note that as of the finale, Cady and her grandfather, Tipper Harris (David Morse), are not back to a normal or healthy relationship. It only makes sense that we should see more drama unfold if they come back for more.
Who Stars In We Were Liars?
Along with the previously mentioned actors, the latest Prime Video thriller series stars Rahul Kohli as Carrie’s longtime partner Ed, and Wendy Crewson as Tipper Sinclair.
