When the end credits of The Bear‘s Season 4 finale roll and St. Vincent’s “Fast Slow Disco” blares, fans will be left jamming out, wiping away tears, and wondering what the heck Christopher Storer’s hit FX series is cooking up next.

In wake of The Chicago Tribune‘s negative review of The Bear, the fourth season of the Emmy-winning series took fans and characters on an emotional roller coaster as Carmy (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and team raced a literal countdown clock in hopes of saving their restaurant before money ran out.

The finale not only saw the countdown timer stop ticking, but it dropped a major bombshell that’s sure to shake everything and everyone up in Season 5, should the series return. So will there be a Season 5 of The Bear? Has FX or Hulu officially renewed or canceled the series yet? And if these chefs come back for more, what could a potential Season 5 look like? Will There Be A Season 5 Of The Bear On Hulu? The Bear Season 5 Renewal Status:

As of June 27, two days after The Bear Season 4 premiered in full on Hulu, the streamer and FX had yet to announce a Season 5 renewal. But that’s not to say The Bear Season 5 won’t happen! Though Season 3 and Season 4 weren’t received as well by critics and audiences as The Bear‘s first two seasons were, the show is still a massive hit with huge cultural impact — not to mention, 21 Emmy awards and more story to tell, based on the Season 4 cliffhanger.

Season 4 received the show’s lowest Rotten Tomatoes rating from critics yet (80%), but overall, the series is still Certified Fresh at 92%, so its hit status has yet to fade. Considering fans’ investment in the series, its major star power, and the fact that it’s currently #1 on Hulu it seems safe to say that we haven’t seen the last of these chefs. However, sources tell Variety there are no Season 5 scripts at this time. Plus, the cast, especially White, Edebiri, and Bachrach, are also in high demand at the moment. Variety reports, per sources, that the core cast “is contractually committed for a fifth season if FX and Storer choose to proceed.” But per an FX spokesperson, “Chris hasn’t said yet.”

When Will The Bear Return With New Episodes? The Bear Season 5 Premiere Date:

Since The Bear has yet to be renewed, there’s no official Season 5 premiere day. That said, The Bear is traditionally the show of the summer, so our usual bet would be a June 2026 release. Could an unprecedented season ahead also inspire the team to shake up the premiere date? Could cast scheduling conflicts and other projects impact filming and release date? Stay tuned!

So who’s to say Carmy can’t be convinced to stay, work his shit out in a healthy way, find a better work-life balance, and recapture the initial spark and sentiment he had when he first set out to create a restaurant with Mikey — and again with Syd?

Even if Carmy does leave the biz behind, he promised to help The Bear get back on its feet first, and surely that will take some time. So we have faith that Jeremy Allen White isn’t leaving The Bear behind. And if he does leave the restaurant, those people are still his family! He’s so intertwined in their lives that it would be easy to follow his story outside the restaurant as well. Will he finally go to therapy?! Will he deal with his dad drama? Will he give Claire her favorite green sweatshirt back and try to rekindle their romance? (And what the heck will she think about his career shift?!) Only time will tell.
