Will There Be A Season 3 of ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’?
The Season 2 finale of The Walking Dead: Dead City aired Sunday night in true apocalyptic fashion — with gore, redemption and more gore — leaving enough in the air for a potential third season.
The spinoff series focuses on Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s) foray into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan on a quest for Maggie’s son Hershel (Logan Kim), held captive by the Croat (Željko Ivanek).

**SEASON 2 SPOILERS AHEAD**
In the finale, a Trojan horse situation unfolds at a feast between Bruegel (Kim Coates) and Negan’s men. A battle breaks out, and Bruegel is outnumbered. Negan eventually kills him by — brace yourself — shoving a gas tube down his throat and setting him on fire. Yikes.
Meanwhile, Maggie remains trapped by the Dama (Lisa Emery), who encourages her to kill Negan at last, ending the cycle of mistrust and resentment between the two — a pattern that’s persisted since Negan brutally murdered Maggie’s husband in The Walking Dead Season 7. Maggie’s son Hershel agrees, saying it’s the only way their family will be able to move on.
The Dama releases Maggie to kill Negan, which she attempts to do during his ongoing battle against Bruegel. As she stabs him, Negan realizes his adopted daughter, Ginny (Mahina Napoleon), has died and thus turned into a walker.
In a change of heart, Maggie removes the knife from Negan’s back. New Babylon then arrives in force and takes over Manhattan. The pair, reconciled at last, seem to be ready to work together as the group leaves the city, indicating another season may lurk around the corner. However, many fans thought they’d squashed their beef by the end of Season 1, and were dead wrong, so who knows what a third season could hold?
Has The Walking Dead: Dead City Been Renewed For Season 3?
Not yet, but it hasn’t been cancelled, either. As of this writing, AMC has not confirmed a third season of the show. Plus, there was a two-year wait between Seasons 1 and 2, so don’t get too excited, yet.
Although Dead City has an uncertain future, AMC has announced that fan-favorite Daryl’s spinoff, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, will return to AMC and AMC+ this fall.
