Shocking video filmed by a parishioner shows the man being Tased by a police officer as the priest ducked out of the way behind the altar during the 7 a.m. Friday Mass.
The two arresting officers punched the man repeatedly in the head as they struggled to get him in handcuffs.

At one stage, the man broke free and started fighting back, sending a display of flowers behind the altar flying.
Before the parishioner started filming, the 28-year-old man snatched, tossed and damaged several religious items on the altar, the church’s pastor, Rev. Jacob Thumma, told Staten Island Live.
“We’re just cleaning up the mess now in the church as we speak,” Father Thumma told the outlet.

Police had tried speaking to the man before he became violent and belligerant.
Cops were finally able to get the man under control and brought into custody, where charges were pending.
The unidentified individual was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation.
He is reportedly not a parishioner.
The two arresting officers were treated for minor injuries including a laceration to the head and a knee injury following the brawl.
Minor damage was also sustained to the church altar and the marble floor.
