“There was a small wedding,” Tyne, 79, told People during the TV Academy’s inaugural Televerse Festival in Los Angeles on Saturday, Aug. 16. “Very exclusive, very, very private.”
“They only had people that they gave birth to or people who gave birth to them,” the Broadway star added. “However, I’m going to see the newlyweds quite soon.”
Tim, 69, and Leoni, 59, tied the knot during an intimate ceremony on July 12.
Tyne revealed that the couple’s wedding was held at their “beautiful apartment in New York,” and that the “Madam Secretary” co-stars plan to throw another, less exclusive party to celebrate their nuptials with more friends and family soon.
The “Judge Amy” star also shared that she is working on “a Christmas present” to give her new sister-in-law, despite not making the wedding guest list.
“It’s a secret,” Tyne said regarding the mystery gift. “I can’t tell you what the present is. Nobody likes surprises anymore.”
Tyne’s younger brother and the “Deep Impact” actress first met as co-stars on the hit CBS show “Madam Secretary,” which ran from 2014 to 2019. Leoni portrayed Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord, while Tim played her husband, Henry McCord.
“She wants to work hard and she wants to have fun,” the “Diner” star told Collider in 2014 regarding his on-screen wife.
“We have a really good time. I’ve gotten along with plenty of people, but the chemistry sucked,” he continued. “And I’ve hated people where the chemistry is great. It’s much better if you get along and the chemistry is good.”
After Leoni and her husband of 17 years, David Duchovny, finalized their divorce in August 2014, she and Daly began dating.
The couple made their red carpet debut at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April 2015, as the guests of journalist Bob Schieffer and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
“I called Téa and said, ‘How would you like to come?’” Schieffer told Bloomberg at the time. “And I said, ‘We’d love to have you bring Tim along.’”
The pair later received the blessing of their “Madam Secretary” co-stars, even if their off-screen romance did come as a surprise to some.
“Nobody really knew,” Geoffrey Arend, who portrayed Matt Mahoney on the show, told People in April 2015. “You don’t want to go to your boss and be like, ‘Hey, so who are you dating?’ So now I think we’re all really protective.”
“Tim’s the best,” Arend added. “They’re really good together.”
Before tying the knot with Leoni, Daly was married to actress Amy Van Nostrand from 1982 to 2010. The former couple share two children: actor Sam Daly, 41, and actress Emelyn Daly, 36.
As for Leoni, she and Duchovny also welcomed two kids together before they split in 2011: daughter Madelaine “West” Duchovny, 26, and son Kyd Duchovny, 23.
