Why the Jets need to rebuild more than just their roster



My first clue about what the crowd will look like for Jets home games usually comes as I exit Route 3. On days when the stadium is full, the cars are backed up to the exit and it can take a while to even reach the booth where they check your parking pass.

That has not been the scene much this season.

Instead, entering the last few home games it has felt like I could do 90 miles per hour into the parking lot if I wanted to. It has been all gas, no brake on my way to Lot G.

We don’t get the actual attendance for games anymore. That information is hidden away somewhere. Instead, the teams announce tickets sold, so the paid attendance for Sunday’s loss to the Dolphins was 68,625. In reality, probably about half of that many people were there, and the game against the Falcons the week before was worse. There are sections filled with empty seats. Security guards seem to outnumber paying customers in the upper deck.
