Those familiar with 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Lone Star, American Horror Story, and other projects may have recognized Trumbull’s name from past credits. Want to learn more about Jim Trumbull and the projects he worked on? Or curious which 9-1-1 episodes Trumbull is credited on? Here;s what to know about the late crew member.

Who Is Jim Trumbull9-1-1 Season 9, Episode 5 Tribute Card, Explained

Jim Trumbull, a late 9-1-1 crew member and executive producer’s assistant, has IMDb credits dating back to 2017. He’s credited as an executive producer’s assistant on a Season 7 and Season 8 episode of 9-1-1, and he’s listed as an assistant to executive producers in 30 episodes of the series from Season 4 (2021) to Season 7 (2024).

Trumbull’s relationship to the 9-1-1 universe extends beyond the OG series with credits as an assistant to executive producers on 22 episodes across three seasons of 9-1-1‘s first spin-off series, 9-1-1: Lone Star. And in 2022, Trumbull expanded his work in the Ryan Murphy universe on American Horror Story Season 11, where he’s credited on 10 episodes. Other 2017 credits include Power Rangers and Dirty Dancing.

While details surrounding Trumbull’s passing are unknown, it’s worth noting that the tribute card’s placement in Season 9, Episode 5 holds special significance. Just as the love for Minear’s dad came after an incredibly emotional installment in the series — one that saw Athena navigate loss, grief, and mortality, while finding the strength to move forward, heal, and keep memories of loved ones alive — the end card honoring Trumbull followed a significant episode.

“Día de los Muertos” once again saw characters missing and honoring departed loved ones like Bobby Nash (Peter Krause). But the episode also featured the devastating death of Eddie’s abuela, Isabel Diaz (Ana Mercedes), and showed him and his son Christopher (Gavin McHugh) reflecting on loss and legacy.

Trumbull’s legacy will live on through the shows and films he helped create, the many lives he touched, and now, through 9-1-1‘s toughing Season 9 tribute.

New episodes of 9-1-1 premiere Thursdays on ABC.
