White House Ridicules ‘The View’s Joy Behar For Defending Jimmy Kimmel: “Joyless Behar” Is “Worried About Her Garbage Ratings”
The White House is clapping back at Joy Behar after she stood up for Jimmy Kimmel and other comedians on The View.
After Jimmy Kimmel Live returned to ABC following Kimmel’s controversial suspension, Behar pointed out that “autocrats” and “dictators” often “go after comedians.”

“They don’t like a comedian. Why? Because comedians tell the truth, make you laugh, and it resonates with you. They don’t like that,” Behar said during Wednesday’s (Sept. 24) broadcast. “They call themselves strong men, but they actually are very weak men, because they can’t take a joke.”
The White House did not take too kindly to Behar’s comments, referring to her as “Joyless Behar” in a statement to Entertainment Weekly.
“Per usual, Joyless Behar is wrong about many things,” White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson said in a statement.
She maintained that Kimmel’s ABC suspension over the comments he made about the late Charlie Kirk “has nothing to do with free speech.” Jackson credited his suspension to his allegedly poor ratings, calling him a “low-ratings loser.”
Kimmel “has always been free to make whatever bad jokes he wants,” Jackson stated. “But a private company — who is the one that decided to take his show off and put it back on — is under no obligation to lose money producing an unpopular show.”
Jackson continued taking shots at Behar and Kimmel, adding that, “Jimmy Kimmel’s terrible product isn’t a free speech problem; it’s a talent problem.”
“Joyless is probably worried about her own garbage ratings — we can’t blame her!” Jackson added.
President Trump also took aim at Kimmel’s ratings ahead of his return to ABC, writing on social media, “Let Jimmy Kimmel rot in his bad Ratings.”
However, Live is riding a new high after the suspension generated a massive public outcry in his defense. Kimmel’s first episode back after the suspension reached a 10-year ratings high with 6.26 million viewers, according to ABC.
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
