In their 10-5 first game win against the Philadelphia Phillies, Shohei Ohtani delivered a six-inning, three earned-run quality start with nine strikeouts while right fielder Teoscar Hernández supplied the offense, smacking a three-run big fly into right center field.
Then, on Monday, Oct. 6, Blake Snell bested Ohtani’s effort twirling six shutout innings. Hernández led the charge again at the plate, belting two base knocks and scoring a run.
Come Wednesday, the dominant club returns home to potentially secure the series. Here’s what we know about the pair of games at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium.
Game Three
Wednesday, Oct. 8 at Dodger Stadium
Yoshinobu Yamamoto (12-8, 2.49) vs. Aaron Nola (5-10, 6.01 ERA)
Game Four
Thursday, Oct. 9 at Dodger Stadium
Tyler Glasnow (4-3, 3.19 ERA) vs. TBD
If you’d like to be there to see the Dodgers clinch, last-minute tickets are available for both cutthroat contests.
At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find on tickets for either game was $100 including fees on Vivid Seats.
Although Los Angeles has a commanding lead in the series, their wins haven’t come without nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat scares that make October baseball so special.
According to Yahoo, “[manager Dave] Roberts went with reliever Blake Treinen in the ninth inning to try to get the save against the Phillies, but instead he allowed three straight batters to reach, scoring two runs with the tying run in scoring position.”
Relief pitcher Alex Vesia almost got the job done but it took bringing starter turned closer Roki Sasaki in to close the door.
What happens next in this series is anyone’s guess.
All we know is the best way to find out what goes down is live in the Stadium where it happens.
