This the first-ever Chainsaw Man movie. If you’re not familiar with Chainsaw Man’s origins, it goes a little something like this: Denji, a former Devil Hunter for the Japanese mafia, aka the yakuza. Denji works to pay off the debt he inherited from his parents, until the yakuza betrayed and killed him. As he was losing consciousness, Denji’s beloved chainsaw-powered devil-dog, Pochita, made a deal with Denji and saved his life. This fused the two together, creating the unstoppable Chainsaw Man.

Last year, Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom—another Crunchyroll/Sony release in the U.S.—was released in U.S. theaters on November 7, 2024, and began streaming on Crunchyroll on April 24, 2025, about five-and-a-half months after its U.S. theatrical release.

But right now, the movie is not on Crunchyroll, or on Netflix or Hulu. If you want to watch the Chainsaw Man movie right away, you’ll have to see it in a movie theater when it opens in U.S. theaters on October 24. In the meantime, you can stream the Chainsaw anime series on Hulu and Crunchyroll.
