In the new show, Ackles stars as a hardened yet eternally sarcastic LAPD officer — and one with a dark secret because DUH — who must join a confidential task force to help take down a potential terrorist threat that could endanger the entire city of Los Angeles. To do that, he must work with the other team members, including agents from the DEA and FBI, to stop the threat before it becomes a reality.

When Does Countdown Premiere on Prime Video?

The first three episodes of Countdown are now available to stream today, Wednesday, June 25. Starting next week (July 2), episodes will drop on a weekly basis, one at a time, until the entire first season is out in the world to enjoy.

Who Stars In Countdown?

The show is led by the Supernatural star who plays Mark Meechum, an LAPD cop who is the best at what he does but is harboring a deep and personal secret. Alongside Ackles is Violett Beane, Jessica Camacho, Eric Dane, Uli Latukefu, and Elliot Knight.

The show comes from the mind of Derek Haas, the creator of FBI: International and several shows in NBC’s Chicago-verse, including Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago P.D. He also served as co-writer of 2 Fast 2 Furious and 3:10 to Yuma.

What Is Countdown About?

The show follows an LAPD officer (Ackles) who joins a covert task force to look into the suspicious murder of a federal agent, only to uncover a master plan involving terrorism and nuclear weapons being brought into Los Angeles. The team — which also includes team members from DEA, FBI, and other federal agencies — must work together before time runs out and millions of innocents lose their lives.
