The Gilded Age is HBO’s super lavish, super low stakes period drama set in 1880s New York. The show follows robber baron George Russell (Morgan Spector) and his equally ambitious wife Bertha as the couple schemes to conquer society. The Gilded Age also looks at the “Old Money” families who look down on their new neighbors, the servants who wait on these American aristocrats, and the historic Black communities who ruled over Brooklyn, Newport, and beyond.
This week, The Gilded Age will show us what happens to poor Gladys now that she’s expected to be a proper British Duchess across the pond. Elsewhere, Dr. Kirkland (Jordan Donica) continues to woo Peggy Scott (Denée Benton), despite their parents’ concerns. Oh, and Larry (Harry Richardson) is still madly in love with Marian (Louisa Jacobson).
