It is not confirmed whether Williams is also being connected to the ongoing federal investigation into the sport.

Western Michigan is preventing Williams from competing, “pending the result of a recent NCAA investigation of events that precede his enrollment,” the school said in a statement to Sports Illustrated.
He spent the past two seasons with Robert Morris, but sat out all of the 2024-25 campaign with a knee injury.
Robert Morris was not one of the six schools that the NCAA publicly named as part of its sweeping probe, but SI’s report does indicate that it is under scrutiny, along with several others.
Williams played two seasons at LSU before transferring to Robert Morris.
He is the second college basketball player in less than a week to be connected to a gambling controversy.

The University of Dayton announced Sunday that it was suspending Adam Njie Jr.
Njie transferred from Iona during the summer, and was named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference’s all-rookie team while at Iona last season.

The NCAA has not yet publicly named the student-athletes involved in its investigation. The organization’s president, Charlie Baker, called for a ban on prop betting in a statement last month.
However, college players and staffers are set to be allowed to bet on professional sports beginning Nov. 1.
“I am grateful for the NCAA enforcement team’s relentless work and for the schools’ cooperation in these matters,” Baker said. “The rise of sports betting is creating more opportunity for athletes across sports to engage in this unacceptable behavior, and while legalized sports betting is here to stay, regulators and gaming companies can do more to reduce these integrity risks by eliminating prop bets and giving sports leagues a seat at the table when setting policies.”
The recent NCAA investigations come in the wake of the shocking news that the FBI arrested Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups and Miami Heat player Terry Rozier as part of a gambling and illegal poker bust.
