There’s no getting around the fact that Friday’s result was disappointing for Chelsea, but it was also a bit unlucky.

And they should have no issue improving their offensive output against West Ham, one of the Premier League’s worst defensive teams in terms of goals allowed and expected goals conceded in 2024-25.
The Hammers didn’t show any signs of improvement in Matchweek 1, losing as a slight road favorite against Sunderland in the home side’s first Premier League contest since 2017.
A leaky defense means that the offense needs to pick up some of the slack, but that doesn’t seem likely for the Irons, either.
