“Some of my best memories were when I was wearing this scent from a little test tube, like when I got engaged or my 32nd birthday,” the beauty mogul told Harper’s Bazaar. “It’s something that felt like a piece of me.”

While the travel set is already out of stock at Rare, the full-sized bottle and mini roll-on are both still available for now. (Perhaps some of her “Only Murders in the Building” co-stars are among those buying in bulk; she said someone on set complimented the “unreal” fragrance when it was still in the testing phases.)
Billed as a warm and spicy gourmand blend, the signature scent combines key notes of caramel, vanilla and sandalwood, with hints of pistachio and ginger.
Since it’s well, rare to find a truly universal fragrance, we had several staffers test out the new scent to see if it’s worth the hype. Read on for our honest thoughts.
Our review

“I was surprised that the perfume smelled totally different on everyone who wore it. On me, it pulled very vanilla, but on others it was more spicy or even citrusy. I really like perfumes that have vanilla in them, so I was a fan of ‘my’ final fragrance.” — Ally D’Aluisio, Page Six Managing Editor
“I’ve always been intrigued by celebrity fragrances. And as a proud Selenator, I was distinctly thrilled to test-drive Selena’s new scent. Loved it from the second I smelled it! And in a fun twist, I noticed that the fragrance changed minutes after I spritzed it on me. The scent leaned citrusy at first before settling into something that felt warmer, with the vanilla notes really coming out to play. Also, the bottle is really cute. And just being a big Selena fan too, there was honestly no way I wasn’t going to be into this!” — Evan Real, Page Six “Virtual Reali-Tea” Co-Host

“Like Evan, I’ve been following Selena Gomez’s career since her ‘Wizard of Waverly Place’ days — and given Rare’s one of the few celebrity beauty brands I swear by, I was eager to see how she’d worked her magic on fragrance. While at first whiff the fragrance smelled citrusy on my skin, it dried down into a nice sweet and spicy blend that would work just as well for a night out as a day at the office. I also love the roll-on design of the mini version.” — Hannah Southwick, Page Six Associate Commerce Editor
“When the Rare Eau de Parfum sample arrived at my desk and I asked my colleagues if they’d like to take a whiff, it practically sparked a stampede. What intrigued me most was how different this smelled on each of us, and how it developed over the course of the following minutes (and hours). On a few of my co-workers, the pink pepper and ginger notes really popped, making for a more spicy scent; on others, it was all sweetness and warmth, with the juice’s vanilla and caramel notes coming through most. One thing we all agreed on? This is a scent that gets better the longer it lingers on your skin; those of us who found it a bit too sweet at the start really loved how it dried down. If you’re into gourmand scents, it’s a safe bet you’ll love it.” — Elana Fishman, Page Six Style & Shopping Director
