Walton Goggins Responds to Pete Davidson’s Prediction That Fans Will Eventually Turn On Him: “How Lucky Am I?!!”
Walton Goggins is just enjoying the moment.
During an appearance on the Sept. 23 episode of Theo Von‘s This Past Weekend podcast, Von and Pete Davidson talked about a common cycle of how actors can be built up in the eyes of fans online, who will eventually turn on them after they land too many gigs. After naming Pedro Pascal as an example of this phenomenon, Davidson said fans are “gonna do it with Walton Goggins,” per The Hollywood Reporter.

Goggins took to Instagram on Sunday to address Davidson’s remarks, noting that Davidson “was talking about his own experience.”
“Pete we don’t know each other but I appreciate the heads up,” The White Lotus star continued. “We agree on one thing… Pedro Pascal isn’t a good man, He’s a great man. A dear friend of mine.”
The Righteous Gemstones actor acknowledged that “as a 53-year-old” he is “acutely aware that every experience has a shelf life,” and shared his appreciation for fans who have consumed his work.
“I imagine a lot of you (and I don’t blame you) are tired of hearing my homilies,” he added. “Trust me I’m tired of saying them. I have a few things coming out that I have an obligation to talk about… not for me mind you, but to honor all of those that worked so hard to bring these stories to fruition. So if you see something with my name on it I encourage you not to click on it… unless you want to… and if you do…I appreciate the support.”
Goggins wrote alongside his post that it’s a “blessing,” not a curse, to be cited in this story, asking, “How lucky am I that this is even a possibility?!!”
“Way more than a poor kid from GA would ever have the audacity to imagine,” he penned. “I wouldn’t take one back. So…If saying yes in life more than saying no is a crime, then I’m guilty as charged. And If this headline is a possibility or an inevitability… if this is my fate…
Well… Fuck it. I’m going to enjoy the FUCK OUT OF IT.”
Goggins spoke with DECIDER last spring, opening up about the legacy he wishes to leave behind.
“I can’t believe that I’ve gotten the opportunity to live the life that I have been able to live,” he shared, in part. “But if you’re asking what I hope my legacy is, it is how much I respect the work and the people around me who are also making that work and the collaboration between the two.”
