“On behalf of myself and the whole Virgin River family, we’re eternally grateful to Netflix and to the fans for allowing us to continue on this journey with these beloved characters,” showrunner Patrick Sean Smith told Netflix’s Tudum.
The news comes just as production on Season 7 recently wrapped in Vancouver and Mexico. A premiere date has not yet been announced for Virgin River Season 7, but it is expected to premiere in late December or early 2026. This means Virgin River fans are locked in for at least 20 new episodes.
This early pick-up means production on Season 8 can also begin even sooner than expected, which means fans should expect the new season to follow closely behind Season 7.
Based on the book series by Robyn Carr, Virgin River follows nurse practitioner Melinda Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) as she moves to the small California town of Virgin River where she meets local bartender Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson).
Season 6 showed the lovebirds finally tying the knot after getting engaged in Season 4. According to the showrunner, Season 7 will show Mel and Jack building a whole new life together.
“Season 7 will find Mel and Jack taking their first steps into marriage as they start to plan for and build a life and family together. Meanwhile, Doc and Hope will work together to protect the clinic and the integrity of the town from outsiders,” Smith told Tudum.
Virgin River has always been a high-performing series for Netflix. Per Deadline, the series has spent 38 weeks on the Nielsen Top 10 since its debut in 2019.
Virgin River is streaming now on Netflix.
