Trump lashes out at ‘Corrupt,’ ‘dishonest’ BBC after bosses resign over doctored Jan. 6 speech footage



President Trump slammed the British Broadcasting Corporation Sunday after two top officials resigned over the airing of doctored footage of Trump’s remarks ahead of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

“These are very dishonest people who tried to step on the scales of a Presidential Election,” Trump posted on Truth Social has he returned to Washington from a weekend at his Mar-a-Lago resort.

BBC Director General Tim Davie and BBC News CEO Deborah Turness stepped down after a whistleblower told The Telegraph newspaper that the corporation’s “Panorama” program spliced together two clips of Trump speaking to suggest he had instructed his supporters to storm the Capitol in his speech at the Ellipse.

“We’re going to walk down to the Capitol … and I’ll be there with you, and we fight. We fight like hell,” Trump was shown saying in the program, which aired the week before the 2024 presidential election.

In fact, those two portions of the speech took place more than 50 minutes apart.

“We’re going to walk down to the Capitol, and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women, and we’re probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them,” the then-45th president said, adding much later: “We fight like hell. And if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.”
