Trump hits back at reporter asking if he’s named in Jeffrey Epstein files at center of MAGA firestorm
WASHINGTON — President Trump brushed off a reporter’s question Tuesday about whether he’s named in files on the Jeffrey Epstein case that the Justice Department is withholding.
“No, no,” Trump replied dismissively on the White House lawn when asked about the substance of Attorney General Pam Bondi’s communications with him.

“[Bondi] has given us just a very quick briefing and in terms of the credibility of the different things that they’ve seen. And I would say these files were made up by Comey and Obama, made up by the Biden [administration] and we went through years of that with the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax, with all the different things that we had to go through.”

Trump added: “But she’s handled it very well. And it’s going to be up to her, whatever she thinks is credible, she should release.”
Bondi, asked about Trump’s remarks Tuesday afternoon, referred reporters to a memo she issued last Monday declaring that “no further disclosure would be appropriate or warranted” in the case — despite her repeated public remarks touting plans for greater transparency, including at one point indicating that a client list was on her desk.
Bondi’s memo also asserted that “Epstein harmed over one thousand victims” with his sex-trafficking of young women and minors but that DOJ “did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties.”

Only Epstein — a once-reputed billionaire financier whose friends included Bill Gates, Prince Andrew and Bill Clinton — and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell faced charges for the abuse.
The memo also said Epstein, who formerly was friendly with Trump as well, died by suicide in prison in 2019.
Bondi told a reporter last week that she would have to “get back to” them on whether Epstein worked for a US or foreign intelligence agency.
Her non-disclosure after months of media appearances in which she teased looming bombshells has sparked outrage by many prominent Trump supporters as well as internal tensions with FBI leadership.
