Trump announces agreement with Harvard to reverse loss of $2.4B in grants


WASHINGTON — President Trump indicated Tuesday that Harvard University has reached a deal with his administration to reverse the loss of $2.4 billion in federal grants.

“I guess we reached a deal with Harvard today,” Trump said at an unrelated Oval Office event.

“All you have to do is paper it, right Linda?” Trump asked Education Secretary Linda McMahon, who concurred.

The terms of the deal were not immediately clear.

Trump had urged McMahon to force Harvard to pay $500 million to the federal government as a penalty for allegedly doing too little to combat antisemitism following the Oct. 7, 2023, attack by Hamas against Israel and subsequent invasion of Gaza by the Jewish state.
