‘Tron Ares’ Comes to Digital, But When Will ‘Tron Ares’ Be Streaming on Disney+?

Get ready to go into the Grid, because the third Tron movie, aka Tron: Ares, is coming to digital platforms to buy and rent tomorrow.

Directed by Joachim Rønning, with a screenplay written by Jesse Wigutow, Tron: Ares serves as a reboot/sequel to both the 2010 Tron: Legacy movie and the original 1982 Tron movie. And yes, it’s about AI. Jared Leto stars as a new named Ares, a new super-intelligent AI robot who travels from the digital world to the real world on a dangerous mission. The ensemble Tron: Ares cast also includes Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, and Gillian Anderson, with Jeff Bridges reprising his role as Kevin Flynn from the previous movies. Joseph Kosinski, who directed the 2010 Tron: Legacy movie, serves as an executive producer on Tron: Ares.

Where to watch the Tron Ares movie on streaming:

Beginning on Tuesday, December 2 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (which is also December 1 at 9 p.m. Pacific Time), Tron: Ares will be available to buy digitally on Amazon Prime, Apple TVFandango At Home, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the movie costs $29.99 to buy, and $24.99 to rent.

Tron: Ares will also be released on DVD and 4K Blu-ray™ on January 6, 2026. The physical release will come with bonus features including deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes featurettes.

Tron: Ares is not yet streaming on any subscription streaming services, but because it is a Disney movie, we do expect to see Tron: Ares streaming on Disney+ soon.

Disney+ offers a number of subscription options, so you can find the one that works for you. With ads, a subscription costs $10.99/month; without ads, it’s $18.99/month or $189.99/year.

There are also Disney+ bundles with Hulu, Max, and ESPN+, so you can subscribe to up to three services at once and save over 40% every month. The bundles are available in a few different configurations, starting at $12.99/month for Disney+ and Hulu with ads, and going up to $32.99/month for Disney+, Hulu, and Max ad-free.

When will Tron: Ares be streaming free on Disney Plus?

Tron: Ares will likely stream on Disney+ in the next month-and-a-half, because it is a Disney movie. All the new Disney theatrical movies end up streaming on Disney+, often about three to six months after opening in theaters.

Another recent Disney movie, Freakier Friday, was released on premium video-on-demand about two months after opening in theaters, and began streaming on Disney+ about three months after opening in theaters. If Tron: Ares follows a similar release strategy, you may see Tron: Ares streaming on Disney+ around the first full week of January, 2026.

That said, the Tron: Ares 2025 movie Disney+ release date has not yet officially been announced. This is all guesswork, so take it with a grain of salt. For now, if you want to watch Tron: Ares at home, you can buy or rent a digital copy of the movie.
