The singer’s soon-to-be father-in-law went on to share that the NFL tight end proposed to Swift nearly two weeks ago, confirming Page Six’s exclusive reporting on the engagement timeline.
Although Ed told the outlet that Travis got down on one knee at a garden in Lee’s Summit, Mo., Page Six can exclusively reveal that Travis actually popped the question in the backyard of his Leawood, Kan., house.
Ed continued: “He was going to put it off till this week. I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off till this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event.
“And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event … when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.”

Ed, 74, shared that he learned of the proposal not long after Travis got down on one knee.
“They started FaceTiming me and their mother [Donna Kelce] and her folks [mom Andrea Swift and dad Scott Swift] to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great,” he said.
Ed was visiting a public Eagles practice when he got the call from the couple.
“I got a FaceTime call from them, and as soon as I saw the FaceTime, I saw it was Travis, and then I saw Taylor there with him, I knew what they were going to say, and they, you know, let us know,” he said.
The “Fortnight” singer and the athlete, both 35, announced their engagement via Instagram on Tuesday, sharing several adorable photos from their beautiful flower-filled proposal.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” they captioned the joint Instagram post.
The couple appeared to be on cloud nine while they hugged and kissed in their photos documenting their special day.
The pro athlete proposed to his girlfriend with a custom old mine brilliant-cut diamond in a gold bezel setting.
Travis designed the sparkler himself alongside jeweler Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine.
