Travis Kelce misses obvious Taylor Swift ‘Wood’ reference on podcast

Travis and Jason Kelce missed an obvious reference to Taylor Swift’s playfully suggestive track, “Wood.”
“I can’t believe none of the new hoodies are called ‘New Heights of Manhoodie,’” a fan wrote in to the “New Heights” podcast.

“I don’t know what the f—k that means, but she’s disappointed,” Jason quickly responded after the note was read aloud.
“What does that mean? What’s a ‘Manhoodie?’” he questioned. “Is that a thing?”
Matching his brother’s confusion, Travis asked, “New Heights of Manhoodie?”
“New Heights” intern Brandon Borders finally chimed in, explaining, “I’ll just say it. It’s a ‘Life of a Showgirl’ reference, boys. Come on.”
“The lyric, ‘New heights of manhood.’ It is the time we were referenced in the album,” Borders continued.
Travis admitted that he didn’t immediately understand the reference, with Jason adding, “Right over our heads.”
“Taylor is going to kill me for not knowing that,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end quipped.
Jason went on to explain that they aren’t always in tune with Swifties when it comes to Easter eggs, which the pop star is known for dropping.
“They sure know how to plan them and call them out,” Travis said of Swift’s fanbase.
“Wood” quickly became a hit following the release of the “Life of a Showgirl” album due to its raunchy lyricism.
Notably, the pop star references a “redwood tree” and a “hard rock” in the song — nods to Travis’ manhood — while also singing, “His love was the key / That opened my thighs.”
In an October 2025 appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” the singer detailed the making of the song.
“It really started out in a very innocent place,” Swift said at the time. “I don’t know what happened, man.”
That same month, the Grammy winner shared her mother, Andrea Swift’s, innocent interpretation of the song.
“She thinks that the song is about superstitions, which it absolutely is,” the “Opalite” songstress joked on SiriusXM’s “Morning Mash Up.”
The Kelce brothers also reacted to the raunchy song during a previous “New Heights” podcast episode.
“‘Wood.’ Great, great soundtrack,” Jason joked at the time. “Do you feel — not confident — do you feel cocky about the song ‘Wood?’”
Playing coy, Travis responded, “Any song, you know, that she references me in is very … I love that girl, what do you mean?”
Jason then cut his brother off to focus on what he suggested was the song’s true meaning — Travis’ “appendage.”
Teasing his brother, Jason quoted lyrics, reciting, “Redwood tree / Ain’t hard to see.”
“I thought redwood was a little … it was a generous word. If somebody wrote a song about me, it would be like ‘Japanese maple / sometimes can see,’” Jason quipped.
“Wood” isn’t the only song on the “Life of a Showgirl” album believed to reference the American Music Award winner’s fiancé. Out of the 12 songs on the album, half of the tracks are nods to Travis.
