Tommy Tune has cut the price of his NYC home by nearly $1M

Broadway giant Tommy Tune has lowered the price of his Manhattan penthouse by almost $1 million, Gimme Shelter has learned.
The stunning Sutton Place home, which features a massive terrace bigger than most New Yorkers’ apartments, is now asking $2.15 million — down from its $2.9 million ask earlier this year, as Gimme exclusively reported. It had asked $2.2 million in 2022.

The Texas-born star’s swanky spread, at 400 E. 52nd St., is 900 square feet and comes with one bedroom and one bath. He bought the residence in 2007 for around $1.3 million, according to reports.
Tune, the 86-year-old 6-foot-6 tap dancing legend, is a performer, actor, choreographer and director who has won 10 Tony awards. He has also hosted many parties over the years from his Sutton Place perch. Once, he previously told Gimme, he threw a soiree for Carol Channing, and more than “200 Broadway friends showed up.”
Artists will find plenty of creative energy to inspire from the penthouse, which is known as the Tower. It’s also where Tune once told Gimme by email that he has painted more than 100 works of art.
The penthouse opens to a dramatic great room with ceilings that soar more than 13 feet high. The apartment also boasts large picture windows — and that 1,800-square-foot wrap terrace with East River and city vistas. The terrace also has an outdoor shower.
Inside, there’s also an open chef’s kitchen and a loft-like bedroom with a windowed bath that includes an extra-large soaking tub with views of the Chrysler Building.
“There are so many things I love about the Tower,” Tune told Gimme in a previous email exchange. “I love that you have to walk up a flight of stairs to get to the Tower, and I love that I can host a party on my terrace. I also love that 52nd St. is a dead-end street. You really get to know everyone on the block — even [actress] Uma Thurman.”
Tune also owns another one-bedroom penthouse with a wrap terrace in the Southgate complex at 414 E. 52nd St. It was asking $2.3 million, but taken off the market last year.
The listing brokers for this penthouse are Joan Billick and John Gasdaska, of Douglas Elliman.
