After premiering in March, the series earned over 26 million global viewers, trailing behind the streamer’s other 2025 hit Landman, starring Billy Bob Thornton.
“With more than 26 million viewers and climbing, MobLand has become a resounding triumph – driven by the creative brilliance of Guy, Jez, Ronan and David Glasser, and brought to life by the powerhouse performances of Tom, Pierce, and Helen,” Chris McCarthy, Co-CEO of Paramount and President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment, said in a press release shared with DECIDER. “We are elated to greenlight a second season of this global phenomenon, which has dominated both domestic and international charts and soared to #1 in the UK.”
The crime family drama spent five consecutive weeks in Nielsen’s Top 10 SVOD Original Series ranks.
Mirren spoke highly about getting the chance to work with “two leading men” like Brosnan and Ritchie on the series. “I knew it would be fun and just a lovely journey,” she recently told TheWrap.
The actress revealed she only read the script for the first episode when she signed onto the series.
“I love having to invent on the spot. I love that process. I love reading something that I have no idea what it is and discovering it as you go along. I find that very creative. And MobLand was like that. I hope we get to do it again,” she said.
MobLand is streaming now on Paramount+.
