“I’m not going to lie. When I first saw you when I got out of that car, I started thinking about going back,” he told Julie, 52, on their “Chrisley Confessions” podcast on Wednesday.

Todd added, “But then I thought, let me embrace this. This is a moment.”

Julie, who has been known for her signature blonde locks, looked stunned by her husband’s admission, responding, “Are you kidding me, right now?”

Todd confessed, “It was a rough moment because I had never seen you dark in my life.” The mom of three then reminded Todd that she didn’t have much of a say behind bars.

“Well, I know that Todd, but I didn’t have any choice,” she said.

“Was there a horrible picture that came out of me?” Julie inquired. “Yes, but the way I flip that is look at me now! Now, people think I look even better because that horrible picture was out there to begin with.”

Todd didn’t see it that way, exclaiming, “I will say, you set the bar low, you had nowhere to go but up.”

Julie reprimanded her co-host, telling the patriarch, “Now, that wasn’t very nice.”

Todd doubled down, saying, “I’m just trying to be honest. That’s why we have ‘Chrisley Confessions 2.0.’”

At one point, Julie did receive highlights from a fellow inmate named “Melissa” while locked up.

But when her friend got released, Julie was left using box hair coloring.

“I’ll admit, I looked crazy,” she shared. “But now, see, people think when they see me, ‘Oh, my God, you look so good!’ and I’m thinking, yeah, because you saw that picture of me looking crazy.”

Despite Todd’s strong opinions, the pair remain a united front.

“We’re 30 years in now … so five years from now, 10 years from now, whatever,” Julie explained about divorce rumors swirling. “We’re still going to be together. So guess what? I don’t really care.”

The public first saw Julie sporting her blonde hair again in June while at a Target.

The star posed with two young girls for a selfie, as seen in a TikTok video, and her hair was back to the bright blonde she had before entering prison.

A second clip showed a full-length shot of Julie with the two shoppers.

Although the reality star is back to a brighter color, her son Chase Chrisley, 28, thought her darker hair was there to stay.

“My mother is an angel. She’s still a beautiful woman. Her hair is darker now,” he told Entertainment Tonight on May 31. “I’m like, ‘Mama, we’ve got to go back platinum blonde.’ And she’s like, ‘I’m not doing that.’”

In 2019, the “Chrisley Knows Best” stars were indicted, with federal prosecutors accusing them of submitting fake documents to banks in order to garner more than $30 million in loans.

Julie was pardoned from her seven-year sentence at FMC Lexington in Kentucky, while Todd was released from his 12-year stretch behind bars at FPC Pensacola in Florida. They each served a little over two years.

Todd and Julie, who have maintained their innocence, were not allowed to see or talk to one another since reporting for prison in January 2023.

Now, the duo couldn’t be happier to be reunited.

“Oh my gosh, it has been amazing. It’s still just kind of … it doesn’t feel real,” their daughter Savannah Chrisley, 27, told People after her parents first night home.

“We were going to bed last night. We’re like, ‘Is this real?’ And then, I wake up this morning and my mom’s walking into my bedroom and I’m like, it’s absolutely insane!” she gushed. “We are just so grateful and ready to kind of start getting back to normal life, obviously, the best we can. Everything’s a whirlwind right now, and it’s kind hard to live a normal life with how things are right now, but we’ll get there.”
