‘Today’ Segment About “Rancid Nuts” Derailed By Nonstop Giggling From Jenna Bush Hager
Jenna Bush Hager and Willie Geist struggled to get through a Today segment after a conversation about nuts sent both the hosts and the crew behind the camera into a fit of giggles.
The hosts were joined on Today With Jenna & Friends by sustainability expert Danny Seo who was offering tips to make groceries last longer. But when he got to the topic of “rancid nuts,” several people on set could not help but giggle – including Bush Hager and Geist.

“Is there anything worse than rancid nuts?” he asked the Today hosts.
“I have never had a rancid nut in my life,” Bush Hager responded. Just as she realized why everyone was giggling, she said, “I walked right into it.” She covered her face as Seo attempted to save the segment.
“Guys, stop,” he told the giggling camera crew as he continued explaining why the oils in nuts cause a “rancid” taste. He continued, “You want to keep the nuts cool and put them in the refrigerator.”
That did nothing to stop the giggling coming from Bush Hager, Geist, and the Today stage crew.
“Let’s just move on,” Seo said. He tried to move on to the next tip he had for viewers when Geist said, “No, no,” and urged him to continue explaining the “rancid nuts.”
“I’m sweating now,” Seo admitted as he continued. When he recommended a tip for viewers who found “your nuts” to be “a little rancid,” Geist and Bush Hager could not hold back their laughter. Geist accused him of “enjoying this.”
This isn’t the first time Bush Hager has struggled to make it through a segment. During one of her final broadcasts with Hoda Kotb, the co-hosts abruptly ended one of their favorite segments because they were “running on fumes.”
The infamous “Social Dilemmas” segment entails giving advice to viewers who write in. But during that broadcast, Kotb and Bush Hager had no more advice to offer.
“We’re just out of gas,” Kotb said at the time.
Today with Jenna & Friends airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
