Titans wouldn’t help Patriots at trade deadline due to Mike Vrabel beef
It’s one thing to wish the best for your exes, but helping them improve their chances of the ultimate professional success is reportedly a bridge too far for Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk.
Strunk reportedly did not want to agree to a trade with ex-head coach and current Patriots leader Mike Vrabel after the sides’ unexpected split following the 2023 season, according to Boston Sports Journal.

The league-worst Titans made two trades before Tuesday’s deadline, none involving the AFC East-leading Patriots.

“I was also told there has been some conversation league-wide that Tennessee might be unwilling to make deals with New England because the owner, Amy Adams Strunk, continues to think too much about how things ended with Vrabel and is not inclined to help his new team,” Mike Giardi wrote.
The Titans split ways from Vrabel following the 2023 season in a move that caught most off guard.
While Vrabel oversaw back-to-back losing teams to end his tenure, he previously led the team to four winning records and three straight postseason appearances, including the 2021 season when the Titans claimed the AFC’s top seed before losing in the divisional round to the Ravens.
Vrabel reportedly “raised some eyebrows” at the time by attending his Patriots’ Hall of Fame ceremony during the Titans bye week in the 2023 season, per The Athletic.

Strunk reportedly “let it fester.”
“This was Amy Adams Strunk making the decision based on a lot of things, including what happened when he went to New England for the Hall of Fame thing — including not dispelling rumors in house that he was going to be the Patriots coach,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said in January 2024.
Well, Vrabel ultimately landed in New England after a year away and he’s now leading an upstart Patriots team that is 7-2 and tied for the sport’s best record.

New England is looking to hold off the Bills in the AFC East and reportedly eyed some enforcements, with the Titans seeming a logical partner since they had available players and are building for the future.
Tennessee sent cornerback Roger McCreary to the Rams and pass rusher Dre’Mont Jones the Ravens but stonewalled the Patriots, who traded away safety Kyle Dugger to the Steelers but did not add any outside reinforcements.
There had been rumors the Patriots aimed for running back help and Titans veteran Tony Pollard seemed like a potential fit, but the ex-Cowboy will likely finish the year in Tennessee.
New England will aim to stay atop the division Sunday when it visits the AFC South-leading Buccaneers, while the Titans (1-8) host the Texans.
