Tish’s fraud case fail: Letters

The Issue: A state appeals court tosses the $500 million civil-fraud fine against Donald Trump.

Attorney General Letitia James weaponized her office in an apparent effort to financially and politically damage a leading candidate for the presidency (“ ‘Total victory’ for Teflon Don,” Aug. 22).

She campaigned on a promise to “get” Donald Trump. He won the presidency regardless and now, she has lost. The fine has been dismissed, and if justice is served, the verdict may soon follow.

Ironically, recent allegations regarding the attorney general’s own financial dealings suggest that the old adage may hold true: What goes around, comes around.

Justice and truth was never what Attorney General James and Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron wanted. Destroying President Trump was the only thing that mattered. They’re both a disgrace to their offices.

I am no fan of President Trump, but for years, I’ve heard my liberal friends express astonishment that a moderate/average individual could possibly vote for him.

Well, one of Trump’s strongest arguments to reach the moderate middle class was: “They’re coming for me, and then they’ll come for you.” It was Letitia James and her confederates who incessantly brought these ridiculous lawsuits, and so allowed him to credibly make that argument.

And they did not add a single vote against Trump. All they did was widen his base and broaden his appeal, allowing him to play the victim.

If anyone wants to learn why Trump won the last election, they may look no further than this.

I am 83 years of age and have been reading your marvelous paper since I was about 10 years old living in New York.

I have spent many hours enjoying the many, many facets of your reporting. But nothing prepared me for today’s headline “Tish out of luck,” an obvious play on words. You and yours are the very best there is.

As much as Trump is claiming victory in the appeal of the award in his New York fraud case, remember that just the award was tossed and not the guilty verdict.

The Issue: A call for Pope Leo XIV to stand up to mass Muslim migration into Europe.

My message to Pope Leo XIV: Without Western civilization, there is no hope (“Vatican sealed Muslim ‘invasion’ of Europe,” Joseph D’Hippolito, Aug. 21).

Make no mistake, for years, the Catholic Church and leftist popes, such as Francis and Leo, have taken an active role in destroying the fabric that makes and keeps this free nation unequaled: Legitimate immigration and assimilation.

The Catholic Church in America should take heed of what is happening in Europe.

Pope Leo XIV, as well as the Catholic bishops are tripping over their cassocks in a rush to welcome and pander to the unfettered migration of Muslims.

The church should always embrace the indigent individual of any faith. However, welcoming masses of any faith who do not respect Christianity as a religion, who do not respect women as equals, who deny the right of Israel to exist and who do not adhere to rules of the countries they are occupying is sheer madness and will result in the destruction of Europe.

And allowing squatters to desecrate Catholic churches is disrespectful to the faithful, who then cannot benefit from the profound tranquility of the sanctuary.
