Thieves in reflector vests steal $3.2M from NYC home in brazen burglary: cops

A trio of brazen burglars sporting construction vests busted into a Queens home in broad daylight and made off with $3.2 million — with cops hoping surveillance footage can help nab the crooks.
The trio pulled up outside the home at 160th Street and 84th Drive in a blue Hyundai Elantra around 2:20 p.m. on Thursday, with the two vest-wearing thieves breaking in through a back door while the getaway driver, wearing a white hoodie, backed up into the driveway and waited, the images show.

Police said they grabbed a safe and jewelry valued at more than $3 million and stashed it in the car, with all three then speeding away — and are still on the loose.
The two crooks who busted into the house were described as wearing black sweatshirts, black pants, black and grey sneakers, white construction hats, black backpacks and each donned a “neon construction jacket,” according to the NYPD.
The driver wore black pants, grey sneakers and black gloves, police said.
No one was home at the house at the time and no injuries were reported.
It’s unknown why the thieves targeted the home and why there was so much valuable loot inside.
Police are asking anyone with information about the culprits to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS or at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org.
