They finally learn real names decades after mom found naked and dead in Ariz. desert
Two little girls whose real names weren’t known for nearly four decades after their “Jane Doe’’ mom was discovered naked and fatally stabbed in an Arizona desert have finally been identified.
The body of mom Marina Ramos, 28, was discovered Dec. 12, 1989, in a remote section of the Mohave Desert, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

Ramos’ identity was not known at the time.
So when her daughters, Jasmin and Elizabeth Ramos, then just 2 months and 14 months old, were found abandoned in a California public park’s restroom two days later, cops didn’t know their names, either.
Police remained stumped for years — until the case was reopened in February 2022 and investigators eventually matched fingerprints from Ramos’s June 1989 shoplifting arrest in Bakersfield, Calif., to her body.
Swabs from family members then found a “high DNA match” to one of her now-adult daughters, who were adopted together and grew up in Ventura County.
“This is what I’ve been searching for and wanting for a very, very long time, and to figure out where I came from and who my family was,” said Jasmin, who goes by her adopted name Tina, to ABC15 Arizona.
Tina and Elizabeth, who now goes by Melissa, were contacted by sheriff’s office investigator Lori Miller about the incredible news.
“As soon as [Miller] said she was a homicide investigator, I had this gut feeling she knew something about my parents,” Elizabeth told the outlet.
“Whether it was my mom or dad, she knew something. And I don’t know, I just ran out of the room and didn’t even know how to process what was being said.”
Miller said, “It’s hard to describe the feeling when you’ve worked so hard for so many years, and then you not only come to a conclusion, but it’s turning out to be a happy one.’’
Police have still not identified a suspect in Ramos’s homicide case.
“While we are excited to announce that one part of this 36-year-old mystery has been solved, the search for the suspects involved in the homicide of Marina Ramos continues,” the sheriff’s department said.
Witnesses described seeing two Hispanic males and a Hispanic woman with the two girls at the park before they were found in the bathroom.
