‘The White Lotus’ Season 4 Will Film at a Jaw-Dropping French Riviera Palace (Yes, It’s That Fancy)
While Mike White is still busy writing The White Lotus Season 4, one major detail about the HBO hit’s next destination is already locked in — and it’s appropriately over-the-top.
According to Variety, the upcoming season will film at the Château de La Messardière, a 19th-century palace-turned-luxury hotel perched above Saint-Tropez on the Côte d’Azur. The sprawling property spans 32 acres, filled with parasol pines, cypress trees, and jasmine, and is part of the Airelles Collection, a portfolio of ultra-luxe hotels owned by Banijay Group founder and chairman Stéphane Courbit (Survivor, Peaky Blinders). HBO declined to comment.

If the setting sounds expensive, that’s because it is. Suites at the Château reportedly run anywhere from $3,000 to $8,000 per night — and that’s before extras like a spa, fine dining, sports activities, a children’s camp, and beach access via Rolls-Royce transfer.
Filming on Season 4 is expected to begin in late April and run through October. As with previous seasons, the show won’t be limited to a single hotel. White is known for blending multiple locations into one seamless backdrop, and the Château de La Messardière is just one of several sites hosting production. The story will unfold across the French Riviera, with some scenes also shot at a hotel in Paris.
Plot details remain tightly under wraps, aside from HBO confirming the familiar premise of following hotel guests and employees over the course of a week. However, sources suggest the Cannes Film Festival could factor into the storyline — which feels especially plausible given that production will overlap with the festival, running May 13–26.
Casting is already underway, with a large number of French actors reportedly auditioning. It was previously reported that Alexander Ludwig (Earth Abides, Vikings) and AJ Michalka (The Goldbergs, Super 8) are the first new cast members confirmed. Only three actors have appeared in more than one season so far: Jennifer Coolidge as Tanya McQuoid (Seasons 1 and 2), Natasha Rothwell as Belinda Lindsey (Seasons 1 and 3), and Jon Gries as Greg Hunt (all three seasons).
Season 3, which was set in Thailand and starred Walton Goggins, Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, Sam Rockwell, Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Aimee Lou Wood, Sam Nivola, and Patrick Schwarzenegger, earned eight acting Emmy nominations. The White Lotus is executive produced by White, David Bernad, and Mark Kamine.
