‘The View’s Whoopi Goldberg Says Trump Needs To Get His “Behind In Gear” And Put America First: “He Wants To Be King Of The World”
As the government shut down enters its third week, Whoopi Goldberg called President Trump out on The View, telling him, “You need to get your behind in gear here.”
After Alyssa Farah Griffin stated Congress needs to take back more control from President Trump and his administration, Goldberg speculated, “Part of what’s happening is this is the slow roll out of total control. That’s what this is.”

She then went on to call the president out for his continued focus in foreign affairs, pointing to the recent Gaza ceasefire deal and his renewed focus on the war in Ukraine, as opposed to problems at home, such as the ongoing government shutdown which has entered the 14th day as of Tuesday, Oct. 14.
“To me, when he’s talking to other countries and telling them what to do, when he’s talking to everybody but us – I have a little bit of a problem with that,” she ranted. “I’m glad these hostages are home, I’m glad. I’m glad you want to now flip back and say, ‘Hey we’re going to take care of the Ukraine.’ But you need to get your behind in gear here.”
“If you are the president of the United States, act like the president of the United States,” Goldberg said. “I appreciate all of the stuff you’re doing but I feel like he wants to be king of the world.”
When Joy Behar claimed that only the people Trump seems to be willing to help are the Republicans, Goldberg pointed out that Georgia State Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene recently seems more willing to “step up” and help her constituents because of these hardening party divisions.
“You have to give people their props when they do the right thing,” Goldberg said about the often controversial state rep. “She has stepped up and said, ‘We’re not going about this the right way.’ And for me, that’s one of the first cracks we’ve seen in that block.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
