‘The View’s Sunny Hostin Shades Trump For Suddenly Caring About Affordability: “Can You Imagine?”

Sunny Hostin was shocked to see President Donald Trump use the term “affordability” in a recent Truth Social post.

On this morning’s episode of The View, the ladies continued to break down this week’s election results, which saw Democrats sweep elections in Virginia, New Jersey, and New York City. According to Alyssa Farah Griffin—who previously worked for Trump’s administration during his first term in the White House—the results weren’t shocking, as American pockets are still hurting.

“It’s the economy, stupid,” Griffin said. “No one feels like their life is getting better, like their dollar is going further, like they can afford basic goods and things.”

“Trump is, I would say, falling into a trap that Biden did when he was in the White House,” she continued. “Biden talked a lot about the economy doing better, but did not speak enough to the fact that people felt like they were hurting, they felt like they didn’t have the money that they should have. That’s happening right now.”

Griffin added, “The easy part is to campaign on affordability. The hard part is to actually bring down costs,” predicting that New York City’s mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani will likely face a similar pattern. While she praised his “smart campaign,” she felt there was still a “lack of ideas and solutions” that would actually help New Yorkers get ahead.

Sunny Hostin, for her part, was hopeful that the Supreme Court would shoot down Trump’s tariffs, which have even had conservative justices questioning who actually pays for them.

“I also think that it’s really ridiculous for Mike Johnson to be like, ‘Nothing to see here.’ Because you have Trump, for the second time since his term began, using the term ‘affordability,’” she said. “Can you imagine? He’s actually using the term ‘affordability.’”

Hostin added, “He posted on Truth Social that ‘affordability is our goal.’ Really, Donald?”
