‘The View’s Alyssa Farah Griffin Reveals “Mortifying” Moment She Criticized Bill De Blasio Directly In Front Of His Girlfriend

During a discussion about “man-keeping” and why women “manage” the lives of their male partners, The View‘s Alyssa Farah Griffin credited former New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio‘s girlfriend with giving him a “glow up,” even though it resulted in a rather embarrassing moment for The View host.

Griffin noted during the conversation that there are “countless stats” that show having a “female partner as a man improves you overall,” which Sunny Hostin said it helps them “get a glow up.”

“One example of glow ups, so I’m sitting at CNN at a table full of people with TVs on, and I see former Mayor Bill De Blasio on and he was looking better than ever,” Griffin recounted. She noted the former politician “looked like his old self” because he had stopped dyeing his gray hair.

Griffin said, “And I blurted out, ‘I’m so glad he stopped dyeing his hair that weird color.’ Next to me, a beautiful woman goes, ‘Oh, he’s my boyfriend, but don’t worry, I told him to get it back to his natural hair.’”

“Case in point: Women save men from themselves,” Griffin concluded.

She later admitted that she was very “embarrassed” after the interaction when Sara Haines commented on how “mortifying” that must have been.

“I was so embarrassed. I was bright red, I was apologizing,” Griffin confessed. “She was very lovely about it, but that’s why you need women in your life.”

The ladies were discussing a recent article that says “man-keeping,” defined as “the often thankless job of managing the emotional lives of male partners,” is why “so many women are staying single.”

But Hostin seemed on board with the idea. “I don’t mind the man-keeping thing because I like to be in charge. I’m a control freak,” she said. She then ran through several points mentioned in the article such as “taking charge of social plans,” and “managing a partner’s stress and moods.”

“I’d rather do that,” she said.

“So you’re a control freak?” Joy Behar asked, which Hostin readily confirmed: “Yes, I am.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
