‘The View’ Pays Tribute To Ozzy Osbourne Following His Death At 76: “He Was One Of A Kind”
Whoopi Goldberg took some time out of this morning’s episode of The View to pay tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, who died this week at the age of 76.
Before diving into the second Hot Topics segment of the day, Goldberg looked into the camera and said, “We couldn’t carry on with this conversation without first stopping for a moment and saying one of the most iconic rock and roll stars in history, Ozzy Osbourne, passed away recently at 76, just weeks after his epic final concert that was packed full of his all-star admirers.”

The moderator, who hosted Osbourne on her talk show The Whoopi Goldberg Show in 1993, continued, “He was like nobody else. He was one of a kind, and really funny. Really, really funny. So, rock on, O. Rock on.”
Osbourne’s family announced the sad news in a statement to The Guardian on Tuesday (July 22).
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” they wrote. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family’s privacy at this time.”
While a cause of death has not been revealed, Osbourne shared in 2020 that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and emphysema. He has also undergone multiple spinal surgeries in recent years as a result of a 2019 fall. Still, none of his health issues stopped him from delivering one final concert for his devoted fans. Just a couple of weeks ago (on July 5, to be exact), he joined Black Sabbath on stage to perform some of his biggest hits.
Osbourne might not have appeared on The View, but he did occasionally stop by its CBS counterpart The Talk when his wife Sharon Osbourne was a co-host. In fact, the former Black Sabbath frontman surprised Sharon on the air in 2016 for her birthday. Shortly after his iconic song “Crazy Train” began playing over the speakers, the singer walked out with a bouquet of flowers in hand and planted several kisses on his wife of 40-plus years.
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
