‘The View’: Joy Behar Thinks Marjorie Taylor Greene Claims To “Love” Trump To Avoid Political “Retribution”

Joy Behar could not move on from Georgia State Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene‘s surprisingly tame appearance on The View.

The co-hosts gathered Wednesday (Nov. 5) to reflect on the election results which saw Democrats triumph over Republicans in New York City, Virginia and New Jersey. But Behar had to take a moment to praise Greene for speaking out against Republicans amid the ongoing government shutdown, which has now become the longest government shutdown in history.

“I have to say Marjorie Taylor Greene was on the show yesterday and her timing couldn’t have been better,” Behar told her co-hosts. “I mean, she’s basically turning on Republicans in several areas.”

But Behar questioned one particular moment from their interview with Greene.

“Of course, [she’s] continuing to say she loves Trump because why wouldn’t you? Because the retribution against her would be horrible so she stays there,” Behar said.

Behar went on to add that Greene’s timing coincided with the sweeping win Democrats are celebrating after Election Day. “She’s smarter than we thought,” Behar said.

Greene shocked the women of The View after they realized how much their opinions aligned regarding the war on Gaza and the government shutdown.

“I’m sitting here just stumped, because you are a very different person than I thought you were,” Sunny Hostin told Greene.

“Well, you’ve only seen me in clips and headlines, and that’s not fair,” Greene responded.

Hostin questioned “the change,” telling Greene, “You’ve gone so far right, you’re on the left now.”

Greene accepted the praise. However, she disagreed and noted she’s “not on the left.”

“All of this two-party fighting, you guys are all victims of the political industrial complex,” she told the hosts. “It’s built on fundraising and fighting and toxic garbage. That exists all over social media, but it’s not gonna solve our problems in this country.”

“I haven’t changed. I was a victim, just like you were, of media lies and stuff you read on social media,” she continued.

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
