‘The Pitt’ Wins Best Golden Globe For Best TV Drama, Showrunner Dedicates Win to What We Can Accomplish When We “Work Together With Decency and Humanity”
The Pitt took home the 2026 Golden Globe for Best Television Drama, beating out the likes of The Diplomat, Pluribus, Severance, Slow Horses, and The White Lotus. Series showrunner R. Scott Gemmill accepted the honor, flanked by co-producers John Wells and Noah Wyle (who had already won the Golden Globe for the Best Male Actor in a Television Drama tonight). Gemmill used his speech to honor not only the creative team that tirelessly works to bring The Pitt to life, but the role that art like The Pitt plays in inspiring us to “work together with decency and humanity.”
The Pitt Season 1 has dominated awards season, winning everything in the last year from the Emmy awards for Best Drama, Best Lead Actor, and Best Supporting Actress, to a Critics Choice Award just last week. That made the serie a frontrunner for tonight’s Golden Globes, despite the recent success of Apple TV+’s Pluribus. In fact, Pluribus star Rhea Seehorn won her first Golden Globe for her performance just moments before The Pitt‘s crowning moment.

“We are so lucky we have such a great village that we work with every day,” Gemmill said. “We have the best crew. We have the best writers. We have the best producers and doctors and an incredible cast. I also want to thank the first responders and health care workers who are the real heroes who inspire us.”
After also doing The Diplomat‘s showrunner a solid and thanking civil servants, Gemmill opined on what The Pitt’s success means within a larger context.
“We live in a very divided country and a world right now, but I think cinema — and I call TV cinema, too, sorry — brings us all together, not only as an audience, but as a community,” Gemmill said.
“We show people what we can do when a bunch of individuals, hundreds of us, have a common goal and we work together with decency and humanity, and just acceptance and respect for each other. And we can do amazing things.”
Gemmill capped off his speech by thanking his fellow artists in the room: “The stories you tell, they make a difference, so thank you so much.”
The Pitt Season 2 just premiered last Thursday and HBO Max has already renewed the show for a third season.
The Pitt Season 2 Episode 2 will premiere on HBO Max on Thursday, January 15 at 9 PM ET.
