‘The Pickup’ Cast and Cameos: Roman Reigns, Marshawn Lynch, and More Appear in Eddie Murphy’s New Movie
A new Eddie Murphy movie, The Pickup, snuck on to Amazon Prime today with very little fanfare. But with Murphy leading the film, and Pete Davidson starring alongside him, we have a feeling people are going to watch this new buddy action comedy.
Directed by Tim Story, with a screenplay written by Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows, The Pickup stars Murphy and Davidson as “guardians,” aka drivers in charge of transporting money and other high-value goods from place to place in an armored truck. Though they are given guns, they really aren’t trained to handle criminal heists and high-speed car chases. But that’s exactly what they get when a criminal mastermind (Keke Palmer) targets their truck while on a pickup.

Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoaʻi as the MMA champ
Photo: Bradlee Rutledge/ WWE via Getty Images WWE champion and former football player Roman Reigns makes a cameo appearance in The Pickup as the MMA champion who takes a photo shoot with the “pickup” money that Keke Palmer wants to steal. In order to get Roman to wrap up the photos, Palmer informs Roman that his opponent is talking sh-t about him at a press conference. Pretty bold to trash talk one of the best pro-wrestlers in the world, with an over-1300 day reign with the WWE Universal Championship.

Marshawn Lynch as Chop Shop
Photo: ©Amazon/Courtesy Everett Collection Former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch has successfully transitioned to acting over the last five years or so, including a key role in Booksmart, so we’re not sure if this one really counts a cameo. It’s just straight up a supporting role! Still, we’re sure the fact that Murphy is a longtime sports fan helped Lynch land this role as “Chop Shop,” a shady mechanic who helps Keke Palmer’s character repair the damaged armored van she stole. As always, Lynch steals the show with his charming humor.

Eddie Murphy as Russell Pierce
Photo: ©Amazon/Courtesy Everett Collection OK, that’s pretty much it on cameos, so let’s get into the main cast. Leading the cast is, of course, beloved comedian Eddie Murphy (known for Saturday Night Live, Beverly Hills Cop, Coming To America, Dr. Dolittle, and so much more). Russell Pierce may not be Murphy’s most memorable role of his career, but he’s a likeable old grump who just wants to get home in time to celebrate his 25th anniversary with his wife. Aww! And Murphy is still making us laugh with the way Russell moaned and groan about how much pain his body was in after beating up the bad guys.
-
Pete Davidson as Travis Stolly
©Amazon/Courtesy Everett Collection Starring alongside Murphy in this buddy comedy is the young Saturday Night Live alum Pete Davidson. After rising to fame through SNL, Davidson has starred in movies like The King of Staten Island, The Suicide Squad, Bodies Bodies Bodies, and more. He’s also frequently made headlines for dating celebrities like Ariana Grande and Kim Kardashian. In The Pickup, Davidson plays the annoying new guy that Eddie Murphy is reluctantly paired with. Mirroring real life, Davidson’s character idolizes Murphy’s character, and keeps tell him what an honor it is to work alonside a legend.
-
Keke Palmer as Zoe
Photo: ©Amazon/Courtesy Everett Collection Emmy-nominated actress and former TV personality Keke Palmer gets a chance to be the bad guy in The Pickup as Zoe, a criminal mastermind who tricks Davidson’s character into helping her steal an armored van for a heist. Audiences know and love Palmer from Hustlers (2019), Nope (2022), One of Them Days (2025), and the always-iconic “Sorry to this man” meme.
-
Eva Longoria as Natalie Pierce
Photo: ©Amazon/Courtesy Everett Collection Whether you know her from The Young and the Restless, Desperate Housewives, or Only Murders in the Building, it’s always Eva Longoria on screen. In The Pickup, Longoria plays Murphy’s on-screen wife, Natalie. She might sometimes call her husband “un pendejo,” but she’ll also do whatever she has to do to keep him safe.
-
Andrew Dice Clay as Clark
Photo: ©Amazon/Courtesy Everett Collection Comedy nerds know longtime stand-up comedian Andrew Dice Clay, who’s been headlining tours since the 1980s. He never broke into movie stardom in the same way fellow ’80s comedian Eddie Murphy did, but clearly, Murphy hasn’t forgotten about his colleague, and cast him as the jerk boss in The Pickup. If you don’t know him from his comedy, then you might know him from his role as Lorenzo in the 2018 version of A Star Is Born.
-
Ismael Cruz Cordova as Miguel

Colbert / © Amazon Prime Video / Courtesy Everett Collection If you’re a fan of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, you might have recognized one of Keke Palmer’s henchmen as the elf Arondir. You may also know him as Hector Campos from Showtime’s Ray Donovan, or, if you have kids, Mando from Sesame Street.
-
Jack Kesy as Banner
Photo: Chris DELMAS / AFP After there was Ron Perlman, there was David Harbour. And after there was David Harbour, there was Jack Kesy, aka the third guy to play Hellboy, the Dark Horse Comics character, in the 2024 Hellboy reboot film, Hellboy: The Crooked Man (2024). You may also know Kesy from his TV roles in The Strain and Claws. In The Pickup, he plays one of Keke Palmer’s goons who is out for revenge.
