After finally discovering that Margo (Malin Akerman) is really the one responsible for Abby’s murder earlier in the season, the freshman series ends with Sophie (Brittany Snow) running over Margo’s brother and tossing his body off a cliff to cover her tracks. That happens just as Sophie picks up Kyle’s (Michael Aaron Milligan) phone and sits quietly on the line with Margo, confirming to the formerly rich Texas housewife that something bad has happened to her beloved brother. How can they end it there?!

Given that this ending seems to directly set up a second season, it seems like the perfect opportunity for Netflix to get the cast back ASAP to start on new episodes. But is it happening?

Keep reading to find out everything we know about The Hunting Wives Season 2, including if it’s happening and when it could come out on Netflix.

Has The Hunting Wives Been Renewed For A Second Season?

As of July 22, Netflix has not renewed The Hunting Wives for a second season. It can take several weeks to several months for Netflix to renew their shows, however, so don’t fret if you haven’t heard anything by the end of the month or August, even.

Do the Cast and Crew of The Hunting Wives Want To Do a Second Season?

You betcha they do. In an interview with DECIDER, Akerman said that much of her nervousness surrounding the release of Season 1 has to do with wanting desperately to come back for a Season 2. The 27 Dresses alum said she had such an exceptional time filming Season 1 that she can only hope the fans latch on and demand Netflix greenlight a return to Meadow Brook, Texas, especially after that dramatic cliffhanger ending.

“There’s some really fun, crazy scenes and beautiful scenes that I’ve definitely had to forewarn friends and family. But I am super excited and nervous,” Akerman said ahead of Season 1’s release.

“I think the nerves come from, for me, it’s really wanting this to go for a second season because I love everybody that I got to work with and it would be a dream come true to go again. So my nerves are around the fact that I just want and wish for everyone to love it so much that we get another season,” Akerman added.

The actress also joked that if they get a second season, maybe Snow will get her chance to try the fun accent the rest of the cast got to pull off in Season 1. Here’s hoping that Netflix hears the fans and the cast of their own show and gives us a Season 2.

When Could The Hunting Wives Season 2 Come Out?

We can only hope that May Cobb, the writer of the book that inspired the series, is hard at work with series creator Rebecca Cutter on new scripts so that when Netflix renews the show, they can get right to work. Either way, I would not expect to see these characters back before mid to late 2026 or even early 2027.

Who All Stars in The Hunting Wives Season 1?

Aside from Akerman and Snow, the adaptation stars Dermot Mulroney as Margo’s husband Jed, Katie Lowes as Jill, Jaime Ray Newman as Callie, Graham (Evan Jonigkeit), and Karen Rodriguez as Wendy Salazar.
