The mother-daughter duo was photographed walking and chatting in New York City this week, as Holmes held an apparent script in her hand.
She looked like she was dressed in character, too, as she sported a blue patterned bathrobe, jeans and sneakers and wore her hair in a very messy updo.
Meanwhile, Cruise, 19, stepped out in a chic, casual ensemble comprised of khaki cargo pants with a brown belt, red sneakers and a white camisole.
She carried a brown leather tote slung from her shoulder and opted for no jewelry or makeup.
Holmes, 46, and her “Dawson’s Creek” co-star Joshua Jackson were also snapped looking giddy as ever on the set of their upcoming film, which she is also writing and directing.
The chemistry between the two was still evident, as the actress was pictured with a huge grin on her face.
Holmes and Jackson’s “Dawson’s Creek” characters — Joey Potter and Pacey Witter, respectively — ending up together by the end of the popular teen drama series in 2003.
They also dated in real life in 1998 while filming the show, though their relationship fizzled out after a year.
Jackson, 47, gushed earlier this year that he and Holmes are still “very close” friends despite not maintaining regular contact.
As for Holmes’ only child, who is estranged from her father, Tom Cruise, she is enjoying her summer break from college.
Suri will soon be returning to Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Penn., for her sophomore year.
