‘Stumble’ Exclusive Clip: Coach Potter Goes Toe-To-Toe With Emmy Winner Jeff Hiller’s German Candy Button Factory Owner

It’s the special event all your favorite characters in NBC’s Stumble have been waiting for… Button Day in Headltston! As fans of the cheerleading mockumentary know, the lifeblood of this small Oklahoma town is the candy button factory, which is responsible for funding many of the community’s public and private institutions like the town’s junior college. As the new coach of the Headltston State Junior College cheerleading team, Courteney Potter (Jenn Lyon) is responsible for the wellbeing of her enthusiastic but inexperienced athletes and for getting them to National Cheerleading Championship in Daytona, Florida.

In this exclusive clip, Potter goes to see the head of the town’s candy button factory, Augustus Blimpfh (Emmy winner Jeff Hiller), to request more funding for her squad. The two sit in his office, and Potter begins to plead her case. “As the school’s largest benefactor, I was just hoping that you could redirect funds towards my cheer team,” pleads Potter, noting that the team is named the “Candy Buttons” after the factory.

“It’s impossible,” begins Blimpfh in his thick German accent. “My sole focus is making the most dazzling, spectacular Button Day yet.” Seizing her opportunity, Potter pulls out her iPad to show off her previous cheer team’s dazzling moves. “If you’re looking for spectacle, that’s what my team does best.” Blimpfh squeals with delight as he watches a high-flying cheerleader on her screen soar through the air. “She has flown,” cries Blimpfh. “You can do this?”

“Um, that’s my old team,” begins Potter, but Bilmpfh quickly cuts her off. “If you can do this at Button Day, I will write you a giant check.” Potter jumps back in surprise, already plotting how she can get the Candy Buttons up to speed by Button Day. “How big a check are we talking?” asks Potter. “Real big,” says Blimpfh, as he raises his eyebrows. “You got yourself a deal,” replies Potter, and the two shake hands.

Outside Blimpfh’s office, Potter stops to speak to the cameras. “Okay, I just gotta see which of my girls can make a spectacle and fly like that by Friday.” As she realizes the enormity of the task ahead, she looks to the sky. “Jesus be a fence post,” begs Potter with a sigh.

Will Coach Potter and the Candy Buttons be able to pull off some new high-flying moves? Tune in to NBC this Friday, December 5, at 9:45 p.m. ET/PT to find out!
