‘Stranger Things’ Star Joe Keery, aka Djo, “Arrested” On Stage by Sabrina Carpenter During ACL Fest Set

Joe Keery can now add “arrested by Sabrina Carpenter” to his growing list of viral moments.

The Stranger Things star — who also performs under his stage name Djo — was pulled into Carpenter’s ongoing “cuffing season” bit during her Austin City Limits 2025 set on October 4. The moment came right before her song “Juno,” and, as always, Carpenter had her signature pink fluffy handcuffs ready.

In a fan-posted video on X (formerly Twitter), Carpenter is seen asking Keery his name and where he’s from. After he replies, “Boston,” she jokes that it “sounds a lot like Austin.”

Then she turns up the charm:

“Joe, it’s actually cuffing season. I don’t know if you know that.”

Without hesitation, Keery throws up his wrists to be cuffed — prompting Carpenter to laugh and say,

“You seem very eager actually. This is so rare. You’re the one. We did it, Joe.”

The playful segment started during Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet Tour in 2024, where she “arrests” special guests before performing “Juno.” Past participants include Millie Bobby Brown, Ayo Edebiri, and TWICE members Jihyo, Momo, and Sana — making Keery the latest celeb to willingly surrender to the bit.

The surprises didn’t end there. Carpenter later brought out Shania Twain for a crowd-pleasing duet of her 1998 hit “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” cementing the pop star’s ACL set as one of the weekend’s biggest highlights.

After the show, fans noticed Keery and Carpenter had started following each other on Instagram, instantly fueling dating rumors.

“Joe Keery and Sabrina Carpenter would make such a cute couple that it makes me physically ill,” one fan wrote.

Another added, “Imagine going from Barry Keoghan to Joe Keery… let’s make it happen.”
