‘Sopranos’ star Jerry Adler dead at 96



Actor Jerry Adler, known for his roles in “The Sopranos” and “The Good Wife,” has died. He was 96.

The Brooklyn, NY, native’s family announced his death via an online obituary on Saturday.

“Jerry Adler passed away on August 23, 2025, at the age of 96,” a message on the website reads. “Born on February 4, 1929, Jerry was a resident of New York, New York.”

Adler’s official cause of death was not immediately known. However, his rep tells Page Six exclusively Sunday, “He passed peacefully in his sleep in New York City.”

We were also told the the beloved TV star is “survived by his four daughters — Alisa, Amy, Laura, Emily.”

Over the weekend, several people have taken to Adler’s obituary to pay their respects.

“Rest in peace, Jerry. I’ve very much enjoyed watching you on screen as Hesh over the years,” one fan wrote, noting the actor’s role on “The Sopranos.” “Thanks for the memories.”

Another wrote, “I always loved him on screen and I loved as a human being too. We lost a real one today.”

A stage manager named Jimmy Harton reminisced on the site about the jobs he worked with Adler, writing in part, “I’m so grateful I knew a real New York legend just a little bit.”

Adler’s pal Frank J. Reilly commemorated via X Saturday the fact that Adler started his acting journey later in life, writing, “Not bad for a guy who didn’t start acting until he was 65.”

The late actor began his thespian career on Broadway and was the stage manager on the original production of the legendary play “My Fair Lady.”

He then landed several television and movie roles, including parts in Woody Allen’s “Manhattan Murder Mystery” and Charlie Kaufman’s “Synechdoche, New York.”

Aside from his children, Adler also leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Joan Laxman.
