Sofia Carson Confesses To Jenna Bush That Her “Romantic Kiss” In The Rain With Corey Mylchreest In ‘My Oxford Year’ Was “Soggy” 

Sofia Carson opened up on Today With Jenna & Friends about filming her latest Netflix romance My Oxford Year with Corey Mylchreest. But she revealed one “romantic” scene was not as enjoyable to film as viewers might think.

Today guest host Tyra Banks asked Carson whether it felt “glamorous” to film the “quintessential romcom scene” where she and Mylchreest kiss in the rain.

“I think we always dreamed of those moments, right? That romantic kiss in the rain,” Carson responded. “Listen, it’s never a bad thing to be kissing in the rain with a not bad looking actor so we definitely had fun.”

She continued, “But it’s London so it was cold and it was wet. So, it’s not as sexy as you would think.”

Jenna Bush Hager noted the experience seemed “more soggy than sexy.”

But both Bush Hager and Banks gasped when Carson revealed it took “a couple of days” to film the scene in question. “A couple of days of kissing in the rain?!” the co-hosts said in unison.

“So by the end were you like, ‘I just want to be inside and dry’?” Bush Hager asked Carson.

“Yes,” Carson said. “I mean the bulk of it was the scene on top of the car, so that was hours of cold, wet rain. But it’s fine and you have fun with it and we were laughing by the end of it.”

Adapted from the bestselling romance by Julia Whelan, My Oxford Year stars Carson as an ambitious New Yorker studying at Oxford University where she meets a charming Brit (Mylchreest) who upends her meticulously planned life.

Carson said on Today that she was drawn to the project because it felt like a “classic” romance film.

“I’ve always bene drawn to love in storytelling,” she said. “This film just felt like a classic and it felt timeless. I felt so proud to be part of something that could be that for this new generation.”

My Oxford Year premieres on Netflix Friday, Aug. 1.
