Simone Biles’ ESPYs 2025 gown was inspired by her sparkling leotards

Simone Biles wore her favorite workout gear on the red carpet — kind of.

For the ESPYs 2025 red carpet on Wednesday night, the Olympic gymnast teamed up with Zac Posen, who created a unique gown in partnership with Athleta, of which she’s an ambassador.

Crafted from the same four-way stretch performance fabric as her leotards, the form-fitting sparkly blue number included a square neckline, short sleeves and an open back.

The back of the dress was designed to resemble her favorite T-shirt from the workout wear company, the open-back tee ($59).

The number was covered in hundreds of tiny light bugle beads, which took 25 artisans and over 1,000 hours to complete, per Harper’s Bazaar.

“For this piece, I wanted to create something that speaks to her power, her movement, and her identity,” Posen, who is the vice president and creative director of Gap Inc., told the outlet.

“Using Athleta’s performance fabric allowed me to explore a new kind of couture — one that marries functionality with elegance,” he said.

Joined by her husband and Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens, Biles, 28, paired the one-of-a-kind piece with diamond earrings and rings from Effy jewelry and Aquazzura shoes, which were hidden underneath the floor-sweeping gown.

“Working with Zac Posen on this dress was such a special experience — it was our first time collaborating, and I loved how we each brought something unique to the table,” Biles told Harper’s Bazaar.

At the ceremony, the gymnast won two awards — best athlete: women’s sports and best championship performance. “The recognition means more than you guys know,” Biles said during her acceptance speech.

“I would like to thank the people who have stood with me on this journey — my teammates, my competitors, my coaches, family and fans who have lifted me up every step of the way,” she finished. “I wouldn’t be standing here without all of you.”
